One of the easist ways to get involved with the Lincoln Business School, is through our student projects and placements. You and your organisation can benefit from business theory learned by the student and they gain experience of practically applying the information that they have learned.
Projects can vary widely in terms of their duration. They can be very short, for example 2 to 5 days worth of work, or they can be longer. The length depends on the business need, and would be negotiated between a company and a student/graduate.
For projects that are undertaken by a student as part of their course of study, the length would typically be about 9-12 weeks, starting either in October, or January. Please note that students would not need to be at your business premises for this period of time. The student or group of students, remain based at the University but work on a problem outlined by you, in liaison with the course tutor.
A work placement is undertaken between Intermediate and Final Levels (2nd and 3rd year). The placement is an optional part of the degree and in order to gain maximum benefit from the experience, it should generally be of at least 48 weeks duration and involve full-time work within the placement organisation, but students can do anything from 24 weeks or more.
A placement is a three-way co-operative activity between employer, student and university from which all parties benefit. Placements should enable students to experience the daily workings of an organisation at first hand, while setting the experience in the broader context of their studies.
